There were a number of reasons I didn’t make it to Cleveland for World Series Game 7.
Beyond the fact that I was utterly exhausted and did not trust myself to make the six-hour drive safely, I was also on deadline to finish a book chronicling the Cubs’ championship season, which had to be completed by noon the day after Game 7.
“A Season for the Ages” traces the journey of the 2016 Cubs, from spring training all the way through Game 7. I’ve also included some of the ballclub’s history since the previous title in 1908 and some of the reasons they didn’t win in all that time, as well as some of my own journey through more than 50 years as a Cubs and baseball fan.
This book is currently available for pre-order via Amazon or Barnes & Noble — those links are above, or you can click here. (Note, those links show an earlier version of the cover; they were written before the World Series win and will be updated. The cover of the book is as shown on the front page:
It will be available in stores December 6 — just in time for your holiday shopping!
I also want to take this opportunity to publicly thank Pat Hughes for doing the foreword for my book, also on a very tight time schedule. He’s truly one of the most gracious people I’ve ever met.
Hope you’ll buy one for yourself, or for family or friends. Thanks!
