Tickets for games at Wrigley Field in 2017 are going to be tough to come by (not to mention, expensive).
Wednesday, December 14, at noon CT, the Cubs will put eight-game and 14-game ticket packs on sale at cubs.com.
There are four eight-game packs available. One has eight Friday games; another, the “Rival Pack,” includes games vs. the Cardinals, Pirates and White Sox; the “Coast Pack” has games vs. both East Coast and West Coast teams; and the “Summer Pack” is eight games in June, July and August.
The 14-game pack is a “flex pack” for which you must buy two Marquee games (19 total dates) and two Platinum games (15 total dates). Then you choose four games from a separate list of 24 dates, and six others from a list of 20 other dates.
I count 78 of the 81 total home dates in that list, so you can, within some limits, have your choice of almost every game. There is one interesting note on that 14-game page:
The package also includes the Wednesday, April 12, Platinum game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, which will serve as the "ring ceremony" game where players are presented with their 2016 World Series Rings.
So, Opening Night will not include the ring ceremony — the Cubs would clearly like to sell more tickets to a Wednesday night game in April that might not ordinarily attract a lot of people (cold weather, etc.). Though the 14-game page linked above says that April 12 is a “Platinum” game, the calendar that came with the season-ticket invoice says that game is a bronze price level date — at least for season-ticket holders.
You can buy these packs online, beginning at 12 noon CT December 14, through cubs.com/packs, by calling 1-800-THE-CUBS (1-800-843-2827) or by speaking with the Fan Services team at 773-388-8270.
