Cubs New Year’s Song: ‘This Was Our Year’

My friend Steven Wade wrote me yesterday, “As soon as my wife told me she was pregnant I said, 'We're gonna have a baby and the Cubs are going to win the World Series in 2016.' I take at least some credit for this.” And Steven can also take credit for the idea and most of the lyrics for my final Cubs song of 2016.

“Our Year” is my favorite song on The Zombies’ “Odessey and Oracle” album, so when Steven suggested it as the perfect song to rewrite for a year-end Cubs song, I jumped at the chance. For Cubs fans, this was “Our Year.”
