Thanks to BCB reader ZimFrey for first noting this in this FanPost, but I thought I’d bring you front-page news on Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers playing Wrigley Field this coming summer, Thursday, June 29, according to this tour schedule on the Tom Petty website.

That will make concerts on three consecutive days at Wrigley after the already-announced Dead & Company shows on Friday, June 30 and Saturday, July 1. (Tickets are on sale for those two shows now at cubs.com.)

The other already-announced concert at Wrigley Field next summer will be James Taylor, on Monday, July 17.

The Cubs will be nearing the end of a long road trip to Miami, Washington and Cincinnati from June 29 through July 1. They return to Wrigley to play the Rays Tuesday, July 4, so the team will have three days to get the field back in playing shape for baseball.

There has been no official announcement by the Cubs for the Tom Petty show, nor any dates for ticket sales or presales, but I’d guess that now that this show is posted on the Tom Petty website, that information should be out soon. The Petty website says “many” of the listed shows go on sale next Friday, December 16, and that you can qualify for a presale by joining a membership club via that website.
