Cubs vs. Athletics at Mesa Preview, Sunday 3/13, 3:05 CT

The Cubs return to their former spring home.

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona -- It's always strange to spend three months in Arizona, living one hour behind Chicago time, then wake up one morning to find yourself two hours behind Chicago time.

That's where I am this morning, and that's why games will now begin an hour later in Chicago (and most other parts of North America) than they have since the beginning of spring camp.

This afternoon, the Cubs return to the location that was their spring home from 1979 through 2013. The original HoHoKam Park was rebuilt in 1997 and then renovated for a 2015 opening for the A's. They did a nice job on the refit for Oakland, though I admit it's a bit jarring to see the place where I spent so many March afternoons decked out in green and gold.

Here are today's particulars.

Cubs lineup:

Rizzo 1B, Baez 2B, Schwarber LF, Candelario 3B, Ross C, Almora CF, Contreras DH, Andreoli RF, Kawasaki SS

Lots of guys get the day off after the split-squad games Saturday. Good to see Kyle Schwarber back in the lineup.

Athletics lineup:

Crisp CF, Lowrie 2B, Reddick RF, Valencia 3B, Davis LF, Butler DH, Alonso 1B, Phegley C, Sogard SS

Former Cub Chris Coghlan won't face his old teammates, as he's not on the A's reserve list, either.

Kyle Hendricks makes the start for the Cubs. Also scheduled for the Cubs: Travis Wood, Pedro Strop, Hector Rondon, Andury Acevedo and Manny Parra.

Jesse Hahn will start for the A's. He will be followed by Dillon Overton, Sean Doolittle, John Axford, Ryan Madson and Liam Hendriks.

Today's game is on 670 The Score with Len Kasper and Ron Coomer.

MLB.com Gameday

Here is the complete MLB.com Mediacenter for today.

Please visit our SB Nation Athletics site Athletics Nation. If you do go there to interact with A's fans, please be respectful, abide by their individual site rules and serve as a good representation of Cub fans in general and BCB in particular.

Please note that during spring training, Gameday doesn't usually go pitch-by-pitch as it does during the regular season -- usually, it will update after each at-bat.

For spring-training games, we'll have a first-pitch thread at five minutes to game time and one overflow thread, 90 minutes after game time (because I know how you all like overflow threads!). For today, that will be 3 p.m. CT and 4:30 p.m. CT.

These threads will not post individually onto the front page; instead, you can find links to them in the box marked "Chicago Cubs Game Threads" at the bottom of the front page. There will also be a StoryStream on the front page with all the game thread links, as well as the recap after the game is over. The pitcher boxes and regular-season stats will return on Opening Day.

Discuss amongst yourselves.
