Chicago Cubs Minor League Wrap: April 27

Pelicans win. That's it.

Larry Kave/Myrtle Beach Pelicans

Welcome to Pelicans Wrap, because they were the only game today.

Iowa Cubs

Off day. They would have been rained out anyway.

Tennessee Smokies

Off day.

Myrtle Beach Pelicans

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans downsized the Potomac Nationals, 5-1.

Pelicans starter Zach Hedges got his second win after allowing just one run on four hits over six innings. Hedges struck out six and walked three.

Second baseman Ian Happ gave the Pelicans an early 2-0 lead with his fourth home run of the year in the top of the first, also scoring Gleyber Torres. Happ was 2 for 4.

The Pelicans stretched their lead to 4-1 in the fifth inning when catcher Cael Brockmeyer hit a 2-run home run. It was Brockmeyer's second HR this year. Brockmeyer went 1 for 4.

Myrtle Beach's fifth and final run came in the top of the ninth when DH Daniel Lockhart doubled home Jeffrey Baez. Lockhart was 2 for 4. He also scored earlier on the Brockmeyer home run.

South Bend Cubs

Rained out in Davenport. They'll play a doubleheader tomorrow.
