I was asked earlier today if there would be an open thread for this game, and I figure most of you will be watching, so here it is.

Last time we saw these teams play was the final game of the 2015 season, Game 5 of the World Series in Citi Field. This is the first time in major-league history that an Opening Day matchup has featured the two World Series teams from the previous year, which is pretty cool.

Matt Harvey starts for the Mets. Edinson Volquez goes for the Royals.

The game is on ESPN2. Announcers: Dan Shulman, Aaron Boone, Jessica Mendoza and Buster Olney. If you're not near a TV, it's on ESPN Radio nationwide (click here for the ESPN Radio affiliate in your area).

First pitch is officially scheduled for 7:37 p.m. CT.
