For the first time in the ten years that I've been doing these wraps, all four teams were postponed. However, thanks to an early morning doubleheader in Iowa, we do have one game to report on.
The Iowa Cubs were beaten by the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Brewers), 4-3 in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader. The second game was postponed because of wet grounds. (Which makes me wonder how they got the first game in.)
Drew Rucinski started game one and took the loss. He allowed four runs on three hits in five innings. However, two of the three hits were home runs: a solo home run by Orlando Arcia in the fourth inning and a three-run home run by Will Middlebrooks in the fifth. Rucinski walked one and struck out four.
Catcher Willson Contreras went 2 for 3 with two doubles, including an RBI double that scored John Andreoli in the first inning to give Iowa a 1-0 lead. Contreras was 2 for 3 with two doubles. Andreoli was 2 for 4 and also had an RBI ground out in the seventh inning
