Armando Rivero gave up a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to take the loss. The final line on Rivero was two innings, allowing two runs on three hits. He walked one and struck out two.
Center fielder Albert Almora Jr. extended his hitting streak to 13 games with an RBI single in the fourth inning. Almora was 1 for 4 and also scored one run.
Tennessee Smokies
The Tennessee Smokies were vassalized by the Birmingham Barons (White Sox), 3-2.
Another strong start for Paul Blackburn, who went six innings and allowed just one run on three hits. He walked three and struck out three.
Miguel Mejia got the loss after he gave up a two-run home run to Courtney Hawkins in the top of the ninth. Mejia pitched three innings and allowed two runs on four hits. He struck out two and walked no one.
Shortstop Chesny Young was 3 for 4 with a walk and one run scored.
Second baseman Stephen Bruno made his season debut in this game, but he went 0 for 4 with three strikeouts.
Myrtle Beach Pelicans
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans were locked out by the Frederick Keys (Orioles), 5-2.
Jonathan Martinez got the loss tonight as he was tagged for five runs on eight hits over six innings. Martinez struck out three and walked one.
DH Yasiel Balaguert gave the Pelicans a 1-0 lead in the top of the first with an RBI double. He was 2 for 4.
