MILWAUKEE -- These are likely to be two very tired teams for a game that's scheduled to begin only 12½ hours after the last one ended. You'd expect a quick pace and low scoring, but because baseball it'll probably wind up 11-10.
SITE NOTE: As you see by the dateline, I'm at Miller Park for this game. Thus the recap will be delayed until I can get back to Chicago, early this evening.
Here are today's particulars.
Cubs lineup:
Fowler CF, Heyward RF, Bryant 3B, Rizzo 1B, Zobrist 2B, Soler LF, Russell SS, Montero C, Hammel P
Brewers lineup:
Villar SS, Presley LF, Gennett 2B, Carter 1B, Nieuwenhuis CF, Santana RF, Perez 3B, Maldonado C, Guerra P
Jason Hammel
vs
Junior Guerra
Jason Hammel has been very, very good this year. Among his best numbers: just one home run allowed in 40⅔ innings. He has not faced the Brewers yet in 2016, and current Brewers are hitting .232 (22-for-95) against him with two home runs, both by Ryan Braun.
Junior Guerra has been around a long time. He was originally signed out of Venezuela by the Braves in 2001, but didn't pitch in their system till five years later. After a couple years in the Braves and Mets systems, he went back to Venezuela and didn't return to a big-league organization until last year, when he was signed by the White Sox. He made three relief appearances for them, and has made three starts for the Brewers, one good, two mediocre. He has never faced the Cubs or anyone on the current roster. In short: who knows?
Today's game is on CSN Chicago. Outside the Chicago and Milwaukee markets it will be available nationally on MLB Network.

Please visit our SB Nation Brewers site Brew Crew Ball. If you do go there to interact with Brewers fans, please be respectful, abide by their individual site rules and serve as a good representation of Cub fans in general and BCB in particular.
The 2016 Game Thread procedure will be the same as the one used at the end of 2015. Here's how it works.
You'll find the game preview posted separately on the front page, two hours before game time (90 minutes for some early day games following night games).
At the same time, a StoryStream™ containing the preview will also post on the front page. The First Pitch Thread and all the overflow threads will be published in that stream, as well as the recap. The recap will also live on the front page as a separate post, and at the time I write the recap I will rename the stream "Cubs vs. (Team) (Day of Week) Game Threads" so you can go back and find every thread related to that particular game.
You will also be able to find the preview, First Pitch Thread, all the overflow threads and recap in the box marked "Chicago Cubs Game Threads" at the bottom of the front page (you can also find them in this section link). They will also appear in the game's StoryStream™ as noted above.
The First Pitch thread will post at five minutes before game time, then an overflow thread at one hour, two hours and 2:45 after the scheduled game time.
Discuss amongst yourselves.
