Writer's Note: The daily selections of the three Heroes and three Goats are based solely on the top three and bottom three WPA scores for the game. The selections are not based on my subjective opinion.
THE THREE HEROES:
- Superhero - Ben Zobrist (.292). I'm pretty sure I heard him yell "The heck with your fruit baskets!!" after he hit the second one.
- Hero - Tommy La Stella (.175). Who's currently leading the team in OPS? This guy at 1.087.
- Sidekick - Anthony Rizzo (.102). I don't think I've ever seen someone hit a homer off of one of the flags before. Sometimes you just have to dare to be different.
THE THREE GOATS:
- Billy Goat - Kris Bryant (-.068). A rough day at the plate with three strikeouts plus a hard-hit ball right into the shift.
- Goat - Dexter Fowler (-.055). He did have the run-scoring single late, but it didn't do much to offset the 0-for-3 in his first three plate appearances. He does get style points for his running catch into the wall in right-center, though.
- Kid - Justin Grimm (-.050). Definitely made the game more interesting than it needed to be.
RANKINGS THROUGH GAME 28: Zobrist claws his way back into positive territory on the chart while Fowler and Grimm fall back to the starting line.
