Anthony Rizzo, Ben Zobrist, Kris Bryant, Addison Russell and Dexter Fowler are still in line to be the leading vote-getters at their respective positions in All-Star voting for the National League team. Another vote update was released Wednesday afternoon.
Beyond that, Rizzo, Zobrist, Bryant and Fowler are the top four vote-getters overall in N.L. voting, with Rizzo the leader. Bryce Harper of the Nationals is fifth.
It would appear that, barring a late surge of votes from fans of other teams, that all five of these players will indeed start in San Diego. Only Russell has a competitor within 300,000 votes -- Trevor Story of the Rockies, and admittedly, Story has had a better season, not to mention being a better, uh, story for his great start.
Jason Heyward ranks fourth among outfielders in the current voting, about 400,000 behind Yoenis Cespedes.
The Cubs could have more than five representatives on the team when pitchers are selected; Jake Arrieta and Jon Lester both are having All-Star caliber seasons, as is Hector Rondon, despite his relatively low save total.
The next voting update will be a week from today. Here's all of the voting by position.
