The Iowa Cubs were blue after losing to the Memphis Redbirds (Cardinals), 6-2. The loss ended the I-Cubs nine game winning streak.
Drew Rucinski started and took the loss. Rucinski allowed three runs, two earned, on seven hits over 5.2 innings. He walked three and struck out five.
First baseman Dan Vogelbach hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning, his ninth of the season. Vogelbach was 1 for 3.
Catcher Willson Contreras was 2 for 2 with a walk and he scored on the Vogelbach home run. He left the game in the 8th inning while accompanied by the trainer. No word yet on what happened.

The Tennessee Smokies lost to the Mississippi Braves, 3-1.
Starter Duane Underwood Jr. went 4.2 innings and gave up three runs on four hits. One of the runs was unearned. Underwood had some control issues as he walked five and struck out six. On the plus side, he doubled in the third inning. That was his first hit as a professional.
The Smokies lone run came when Jeimer Candelario tripled to lead off the fourth inning and scored on a Billy McKinney double. Both players were 1 for 4.
First baseman Cael Brockmeyer was 2 for 4.
