Chicago Cubs Minor League Wrap: July 12

Only one game and the Smokies were shut out.

Peter G. Aiken-USA TODAY Sports

Just one game today as minor league baseball tries to clear its schedule for the All-Star Game.

Tennessee Smokies

The Tennessee Smokies were shut out by the Chattanooga Lookouts (Twins), 4-0.

Clayton Richard made a rehab start in this game. He had no issues in the first two innings, but he gave up two runs in the third inning to take the loss. Richard's final line was two runs on four hits over three innings. He struck out one and walked no one.

Brian Matusz took over for Richard and allowed just one run on two hits over 3.1 innings. Matusz walked two but he struck out six, which is nice.

Third baseman Chesny Young was 2 for 3 with a walk. Left fielder Kelly Dugan went 2 for 3.
