Myrtle Beach Pelicans

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans were sunk by the Winston-Salem Dash (White Sox), 13-7.

Starter Jeremy Null didn't make it out of the first inning when he gave up four unearned runs on two hits and two walks. He pitched two-thirds of an inning and didn't strike out anyone.

James Pugliese got the loss. He allowed two runs on two hits over 2.2 innings in relief of Null. Pugliese struck out three and walked one.

First baseman Yasiel Balaguert was 4 for 4 with a walk. He scored one run and had two runs batted in.

Center fielder Rashad Crawford went 3 for 5 and scored three runs. Second baseman David Bote was 2 for 4 with two runs scored. Shortstop Andrew Ely went 2 for 5.

South Bend Cubs

Off day.

Eugene Emeralds

The Eugene Emeralds were jumped over by the Hillsboro Hops (Diamondbacks), 8-2. The loss denied the Ems a chance to clinch the first-half title tonight.

Bryan Hudson had his control issues again tonight and took the loss. Hudson pitched the first four innings and gave up four runs on three hits and six walks. Three of the four runs were unearned, however. Hudson struck out two.

The Ems managed just three hits tonight. Both runs came on a first-inning home run by first baseman Chris Pieters, his second of the season. Pieters was 1 for 4.

Beat the Dodgers, 7-6.
