The Cubs and Cardinals have been frequent guests on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball the last couple of years, especially in 2015 when both teams were in contention. That matchup was featured twice on the Worldwide Leader.
The Cubs announced via press release that the Wrigley Field contest between the Cubs and Cardinals on Sunday, August 14 will be their featured Sunday night game. Given the fact that both teams are again playoff contenders, have one of the better rivalries in the game, and draw big audiences, this was kind of a no-brainer for ESPN.
So, Dan Shulman, Jessica Mendoza, Aaron Boone, Buster Olney and the ESPN Sunday Night crew will be at Wrigley Field for that game. The press release says the start time is "7:08 CT." I've never really understood that -- I mean, if they said 7:05 and it started a couple minutes later than that, would you really notice? But saying "7:08" sounds like they want it to start precisely at that time.
Anyway, more national TV exposure for the Cubs.
