Cubs Announce July 19 Game Time Change

The Cubs are a popular choice for national broadcasts.

Danny Rockett

Two weeks ago, the Cubs announced that their game Monday, July 18 against the Mets was being moved up an hour to 6:05 p.m. CT to accommodate a national TV broadcast on ESPN.

Wednesday, the Cubs announced that the next day's game, Tuesday, July 19, also against the Mets at Wrigley Field, would also be moved up an hour to 6:05 p.m. CT for an ESPN national telecast.

Obviously, with both of these teams in playoff contention and having two of the top three TV markets involved, these games are attractive for national TV.

The Monday, July 18 game will be carried on WPWR-Ch. 50 in Chicago and on many of these affiliate stations. The Tuesday, July 19 game will be carried on CSN Chicago. The ESPN broadcast will be blacked out in the Chicago and New York market territories, but this is good news for those of you who don't have access to Cubs TV games outside of the Chicago market.

And if you have tickets for either of these games, please note the earlier starting time.

Finally, we certainly hope for better results against the Mets in these games than in the recent series at Citi Field.
