Before the gates opened Sunday, I had a walk around Wrigley Field to see what's new in the ballpark construction project, and also the two projects surrounding the ballpark.
It was quiet construction-wise. No workers were around mid-afternoon Sunday, no surprise, really.
The biggest change since the last update here is the addition of the exterior brick on some of the lower floors of the plaza building. It looks nice. They should be finished with that brick, I'd say, in a few more weeks, at which time they'll start the interior work and we won't be able to see the progress inside. I took a few photos (9, 10, 11 and 14) of the interior floors; those are clearly visible from the street, if you walk by on Clark or Waveland next to the under-construction building.
Demolition of the buildings on the south side of Addison/east side of Clark for the non-Cubs project is continuing (photos 2 and 3) and there's activity on the west side of Clark (north of Addison) for the Ricketts family hotel project (photo 6).
Otherwise things look more or less the same as they did the last time I had a look around. It doesn't look like the plaza is anywhere near ready to open this year.
I'll have more photos of the construction here, perhaps next week.
