Cubs, Astros Will Be On ESPN Sunday Night Baseball September 11

The Cubs’ final interleague game of the year is heading to national TV.

There hasn’t been any official announcement from either the Cubs or the Astros, but this broadcast schedule on the Cubs website and this game schedule on ESPN’s website both confirm that the Cubs/Astros game in Houston Sunday, September 11 will start at 7:05 p.m. CT and be on the Worldwide Leader.

Original schedules show this as a 1:10 p.m. CT start. The Cubs fly to St. Louis after that game to begin a three-game set with the Cardinals Monday, September 12 at 7:15 p.m. CT.

This game will be the fifth appearance of the Cubs on ESPN’s flagship Sunday night baseball show. They’ve split the other four, defeating the Pirates June 19 and the Mariners July 31 at Wrigley Field, and losing to the Giants May 22 in San Francisco and the Cardinals August 14 at Wrigley.

Under the terms of the current ESPN/MLB deal, which runs through 2021, teams can make a maximum of six appearances on Sunday Night Baseball, so the final Cubs home game of 2016, September 25 against the Cardinals, could still be chosen. We should know for sure within a couple of weeks.
