Iowa Cubs

The Iowa Cubs were silenced by the Nashville Sounds (Athletics), 3-2 in 11 innings.

Josh Collmenter didn't allow a hit over the first four innings, but he gave up three hits in the fifth. Collmenter's final line was two runs on three hits over five innings. Collmenter walked two and struck out four.

Joe Smith pitched a scoreless inning in a rehab appearance. Smith gave up a one-out single, but erased him with a double play to face the minimum. He did not have a strikeout.

Jose Rosario entered the game in the 11th inning and after retiring the first batter on a ground out, gave up a single, a stolen base, a walk and a game-ending single.

Left fielder Chris Coghlan was 3 for 4 with three doubles in a rehab assignment.

Tennessee Smokies

The Tennessee Smokies were feudalized by the Birmingham Barons (White Sox), 3-0.

Tough loss for Tyler Skulina tonight, who pitched well for 6.2 innings.  Skulina gave up a solo home run in the first inning and then didn't give up another one until the seventh. Those were the only two hits the Barons had tonight. But a lack of offense and a throwing error by Chesny Young in the seventh stuck Skulina with the loss. His final line was three runs, one earned, on two hits over 6.2 innings. Skulina walked three and struck out five.

First baseman Ben Carhart was 2 for 3.

Myrtle Beach Pelicans

Last off-day of the season.

South Bend Cubs

The South Bend Cubs edged the Great Lakes Loons (Dodgers), 2-1. It was South Bend's 12th walkoff win of the season.

Starter Ryan Kellogg pitched 4.2 innings and allowed one run on four hits. He struck out six and walked no one.

John Williamson got the win with 1.2 innings of scoreless relief. He gave up two hits but no walks while striking out one.

Roberto Caro singled home Eddy Martinez in the bottom of the ninth to give South Bend the win. Caro was 1 for 3 and Martinez was 2 for 4.

Eugene Emeralds

The Eugene Emeralds vacuumed up the Tri-City Dust Devils (Padres), 4-2.

Starter Tyson Miller pitched five innings and gave up two runs on five hits. One of the runs was unearned. Miller struck out two and walked one.

Alex Santana relieved Miller and got the win. He pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, although he did allow three hits, walked one and hit one batter. Santana struck out two.

Wyatt Short pitched the ninth inning and he allowed a one-out single. He struck out the other three batters he faced for his seventh save.

Left fielder Kevonte Mitchell had two doubles in a 2 for 3 game. He also walked once. Mitchell scored one run and had one RBI.

DH Marcus Mastrobuoni went 2 for 4 and score twice.

AZL Cubs

Lost to the Athletics, 4-3 in 12 innings.

Brian Matusz threw a perfect inning in a rehab assignment. He struck out one.
