Good advice on both counts.
Smile.

Writer's Note: The daily selections of the three Heroes and three Goats are based solely on the top three and bottom three WPA scores for the game. The selections are not based on my subjective opinion.
The Ramirez Catalyst of Game 157: With the bases loaded and two out in the top of the second, Chris Coghlan clears the bases with a triple into the gap in right-center to put the Cubs ahead 3-0 with their first hit of the inning. WPA impact: +.269.
THE THREE HEROES:
- Superhero - Chris Coghlan (.302). The triple alone was enough to get him to the top, but a single and a walk on top of it were a nice touch.
- Hero - Felix Pena (.180). What a way to get your first major-league save: Inherit two baserunners with one out in the ninth after three runs have already scored, get a strikeout on a wild pitch, load the bases with an intentional walk, and then end the game on a strikeout on a foul tip that almost hit the ground. Just the way you draw it up on the white board, right?
- Sidekick - John Lackey (.146 / .090). Eight baserunners in five innings is more than one would hope for; thankfully only one run came out of it thanks in part to a timely double play and an inning-ending strikeout.
THE THREE GOATS:
- Billy Goat - Justin Grimm (-.174). Yeah, about the beginning of the ninth inning... double, groundout, walk, walk, single, single isn't really the way you want to the final frame when you're up by five.
- Goat - Miguel Montero (-.086). Had a couple of chances with a runner on second but struck out looking and flew out to left on a nice running catch by Gregory Polanco.
- Kid - Anthony Rizzo (-.069). Also had a few opportunities with runners on but came up short before his night came to an end in the sixth.
RANKINGS THROUGH GAME 157: Lackey joins the rest of the starters in the double-digit positives club while Rizzo slides back but still holds onto third place by two points.
