Len Kasper and Jim Deshaies have made a popular TV broadcast team for the Cubs for the last four seasons.
The team announced Tuesday that both have signed three-year contract extensions, through the 2019 season.
“We think Len and JD are the best team in baseball,” said Cubs President of Business Operations Crane Kenney. “Their chemistry as a team and their ability to weave baseball history, current events and the Wrigley experience into the game call speaks to their preparation and love of baseball. We are excited to know they will continue bringing Cub games to our fans, especially after such a thrilling and historic season.”
I agree with Kenney. We’re very lucky as Cubs fans to have broadcasters as good as Len & JD; I’ve often watched other teams’ TV broadcasts and very few, if any, live up to Len & JD’s standards.
Kasper will be entering his 13th year as Cubs TV play-by-play man (hard to believe it’s been that long, right?). Deshaies will be entering his fifth year in the TV booth for the Cubs after 16 years on the Astros’ TV crew.
Len took to Twitter to thank fans for their kind words after this announcement:
Thx guys. Cubs baseball has been very, very good to me. Appreciate the nice replies.

Len, you’ve been very, very good to us, too. Glad to have these guys back in the booth for at least three more years, and hopefully many more beyond that.
