The Yankees made easy work of the Astros Monday night at Yankee Stadium, as they continued the trend of home teams winning this postseason.
They hope, with one of their key pitching acquisitions, to continue that tonight and even up the ALCS.

Lance McCullers Jr. It doesn’t seem so long since his dad, Lance Sr., pitched, but in looking at his baseball-reference page, I see 25 years have gone by. Yikes.
Lance Jr. made two starts against the Yankees this year and the one at Yankee Stadium, back on May 12, was particularly good: six shutout innings, seven strikeouts. He has not pitched at all this postseason, so his last outing was 17 days ago.
Sonny Gray, who the Cubs were also reportedly scouting, was acquired by the Yankees at the trading deadline and posted 11 mostly-good starts for them. His one postseason start, in Game 1 of the division series against the Indians, not so good: three hits and four walks in 3⅓ innings.
His one start vs. the Astros this year, June 20 while he was still with the A’s, wasn’t so good either: five innings, seven hits, four walks, five runs.
So this pitching matchup would seem to favor the Astros. But this is postseason baseball in 2017, so who knows.
Today’s game is on FS1. Announcers: Joe Buck, John Smoltz, Ken Rosenthal and Tom Verducci.
