We’re less than a week from the end of the Cubs’ 2017 season and already, we have the first concert event scheduled for 2018:
The @foofighters return to Wrigley Field July 29! Tickets go on sale Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. CST: https://t.co/8M6MJi6Fct pic.twitter.com/SCuxoPHyTP

The Foo Fighters last played Wrigley Field two years ago, in August 2015. 2017 saw the most concerts in Wrigley history, 10 of them, and it’s likely that many will happen again in 2018, as the Cubs like to schedule events where they don’t have to share ticket revenue, as they do for baseball games.
The Cubs will be gone from Wrigley for only a few days during the time when this concert will happen. July 29 is a Sunday in 2018; the Cubs will be wrapping up a three-game series in St. Louis that day, then will play a two-game set in Pittsburgh July 31 and August 1 before returning to Wrigley to face the Padres on August 2.
As always, my concern with these is that the field is returned to baseball shape for the Cubs’ first game after a concert. The team’s been getting better at this over the last couple of years, so I have pretty good confidence they’ll continue to do so.
I’d expect more 2018 Wrigley concerts to be announced soon. As noted above, Foo Fighters tickets go on sale Friday, November 10 at 10 a.m. CT at cubs.com/foofighters.
