If you’re heading to Spring Training in 2018, here is a unique opportunity to tour the Cubs facilities at Sloan Park with former Cubs player John Baker as your personal guide, while raising money for Youth on Course, an organization that provides $5 golf to kids.

I already knew John was charitable by giving his time and energy to “John Baker Day,” a yearly event thrown with the Ivy Envy and The Son Ranto Show podcasts, and I asked John how he also became involved with Youth on Course. Here’s what he told me.

My father’s first love was baseball, and when his career ended he developed a burning passion for golf. When he showed me the work he was doing with Youth on Course in Northern California I was blown away. Helping kids that otherwise couldn’t afford an afternoon on the golf course to get outside in the fresh air and play golf for $5 is a charity that I can support.

In 2016, I brought Youth on Course to Kris Bryant and Jason Heyward, they were so excited about the possibilities that they filmed an impromptu commercial to lobby Illinois to adopt Youth On Course. Thanks to them, and the hard work from the people at YOC we were successful.

Buying this package will help support the kids in less fortunate areas of your city. It will take them out of what may be a toxic environment for an afternoon on the course.

And to help raise money for this good cause, John Baker is offering to take the winning bidder of the Youth on Course auction on a personalized tour of the Cubs Spring Training facilities. The winner also gets four tickets to a game at Sloan Park.

Here is the link to the auction. Act fast! The auction ends in only a couple days!
