Wrigley Field construction update: November 22

It was cold, but bright and sunshiny, at the ballpark Wednesday.

The sunshine was so bright Wednesday that... well, I did have to wear shades. The glare off some parts of the construction project and other buildings in the area around Wrigley Field was to the point that photographing some parts of the project wasn’t possible. Other areas, as you can see in the gallery, were very well-lit and sharply defined by the sunny day.

It wasn’t as noisy Wednesday as it had been on some other days when I’ve been by the park. Much of the activity was surrounding the ice rink and setup for the Christkindlmarket on the Park at Wrigley. The rink will open this Friday, November 24 and be open through February 25. Details here.

The Christmas tree shown in photo 27 will be officially lighted in a ceremony at 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 28. It’s open to the public; more details here.

Otherwise, the significant addition to the ballpark work was a large crane on the field; as it’s impossible to see in from the street, I’m not quite sure what that was up to. You can see more of the work inside at the @WrigleyAerials Twitter account, and I hope to have some aerials to post here soon.

We should have more photos here over the weekend.
