Cubs vs. Dodgers at Glendale Preview, Thursday 3/16, 3:05 CT

The Cubs head to the West Valley both Thursday and Friday.

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona -- Today would normally be Jon Lester's turn to throw, but he will not pitch in this game, instead throwing in a minor-league game at the Sloan Park complex.

I'm not heading to Camelback Ranch either, as it's a hike and also probably my least favorite place in the Cactus League (mostly, for traffic-related reasons). So, I'll be watching on TV with all of you (broadcast details below).

Here are today's particulars.

Cubs lineup:

La Stella 3B, Almora CF, Candelario 1B, Szczur RB, Happ 2B, Andreoli LF, Caratini C, Kawasaki SS, Dominguez DH

As expected after a night game, all of the regulars get today off.

Dodgers lineup:

Forsythe 2B, Turner 3B, Grandal C, Gonzalez 1B, Puig RF, Pederson CF, Gutierrez LF, Taylor SS, Ryu P

The Dodgers start most of their regulars. Also, this is the first time a pitcher has batted in a Cactus League game involving the Cubs. I would guess Cubs pitchers will start batting sometime next week.

Eddie Butler will start for the Cubs. Other Cubs pitchers on today's list: Caleb Smith, David Rollins, Justin Grimm and Jim Henderson.

Hyun-Jin Ryu gets the call for the Dodgers. Dodgers relievers scheduled: Grant Dayton, Patrick Schuster, Yaisel Sierra, Brandon Morrow and Josh Ravin.

Today’s game is on cubs.com with Len Kasper and Mick Gillispie. It’s also on SportsNet LA with the Dodgers broadcasters, and that broadcast will also be carried live by MLB Network, including the Chicago market.

MLB.com Gameday

Here is the complete MLB.com Mediacenter for today.

Please visit our SB Nation Dodgers site True Blue LA. If you do go there to interact with Dodgers fans, please be respectful, abide by their individual site rules and serve as a good representation of Cub fans in general and BCB in particular.

Please note that during spring training, Gameday doesn't usually go pitch-by-pitch as it does during the regular season -- usually, it will update after each at-bat.

For spring-training games, we'll have a first-pitch thread at five minutes to game time and one overflow thread, 90 minutes after game time (because I know how you all like overflow threads!). For today, that will be 3 p.m. CT and 4:30 p.m. CT.

These threads will not post individually onto the front page; instead, you can find links to them in the box marked "Chicago Cubs Game Threads" at the bottom of the front page. There will also be a StoryStream on the front page with all the game thread links, as well as the recap after the game is over. The pitcher boxes and regular-season stats will return on Opening Night.

Discuss amongst yourselves.
