This will be the second time the USA and the Dominican Republic have met in this year’s World Baseball Classic.
The first time was one week ago, March 11 in Miami. The D.R. won 7-5 on the strength of a four-run, eighth-inning rally. Nelson Cruz and Starling Marte hit home runs off Andrew Miller in that inning.
Now the stakes are higher. One semi-final matchup was determined Friday night when Puerto Rico defeated the USA. Team Puerto Rico will face Team Netherlands Monday night at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
Team Japan, which lost to the Cubs Saturday afternoon, will face the winner of the USA/DR game Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium.
The winners of the semifinals will play the championship game Wednesday night, also at Dodger Stadium.
Tonight’s game features starters Danny Duffy for the USA and Ervin Santana for the Dominican Republic. More details here.

The game begins at 9 p.m. CT. Enjoy, and discuss amongst yourselves.
