SCOTTSDALE, Arizona -- I suppose not many of you will watch or follow this game, because of the USA vs. Puerto Rico WBC final being televised at the same time, and with the Cubs' Javier Baez potentially playing a big role in the game.
Nevertheless, I persevere, and present to you the information you'll need if you do decide to follow along with the Cubs this evening. There's chance this game could be interrupted by rain, too.
Here are today's particulars.
Cubs lineup:
Schwarber LF, Bryant 3B, Montero C, Russell C, Heyward RF, Happ 2B, Candelario 1B, Szczur DH, Jay CF
Only about half the regulars are making the trip to Goodyear. Ben Zobrist was a late scratch with a stiff neck.
Reds lineup:
Cozart SS, Mesoraco C, Votto 1B, Duvall LF, Suarez 3B, Schebler CF, Kivlehan RF, Iribarren 2B, Feldman P
Ryan Williams will start for the Cubs.
Our old friend Scott Feldman (who will also be Cincinnati's Opening Day starter) gets the call for the Reds.
Today’s game is on CSN Chicago with Len Kasper and Jim Deshaies. It will be rebroadcast on MLB Network at midnight CT Thursday.
Here is the complete MLB.com Mediacenter for today.
Please visit our SB Nation Reds site Red Reporter. If you do go there to interact with Reds fans, please be respectful, abide by their individual site rules and serve as a good representation of Cub fans in general and BCB in particular.
Please note that during spring training, Gameday doesn't usually go pitch-by-pitch as it does during the regular season -- usually, it will update after each at-bat.
For spring-training games, we'll have a first-pitch thread at five minutes to game time and one overflow thread, 90 minutes after game time (because I know how you all like overflow threads!). For today, that will be 3 p.m. CT and 4:30 p.m. CT.
These threads will not post individually onto the front page; instead, you can find links to them in the box marked "Chicago Cubs Game Threads" at the bottom of the front page. There will also be a StoryStream on the front page with all the game thread links, as well as the recap after the game is over. The pitcher boxes and regular-season stats will return on Opening Night.
Discuss amongst yourselves.
