SCOTTSDALE, Arizona — Over the last several seasons, it has become tradition for the defending World Series champion to wear uniforms with gold numbers, names and trim for their first home game the following season.
Obviously, it’s all about selling you stuff. Here’s a look at the merchandise you will be able to buy:
We’re rocking gold April 10 and 12.

Want one? You can buy at the #Cubs Team Store on Michigan Avenue and https://t.co/0chkCS9BgN tomorrow. pic.twitter.com/y5b8DzBrzB
It’s certainly an attractive look, on both the jersey and the cap. The Cubs will wear these for both the flag-raising ceremony on Opening Night, April 10, and for the ring ceremony at the second home game, April 12.
The team says these will be available at the Cubs team store on Michigan Avenue and at MLBShop.com tomorrow, Saturday, March 25.
We stand just 17 days from that home opener, after the Cubs play series in St. Louis and Milwaukee. It’s a little early to have any weather forecast for April 10, but this 8 to 14 day outlook from the National Weather Service, which as of the time of this article goes through April 7, hints that it could be above-average temperatures in Chicago around the 10th.
The season’s getting closer. Can’t wait.
