Cubs vs. Reds at Las Vegas & vs. Padres at Mesa Preview, Sunday 3/26, 3:05 CT

It's the Cubs' final split-squad date of the spring.

Rick Scuteri-USA TODAY Sports

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona -- One week from today, the Cubs will open the 2017 regular season in St. Louis. Seems like time has gone so quickly since the World Series win!

In the meantime, there are a few more practice games to be played. Two of them will happen this afternoon.

Here are today's particulars.

Cubs lineup at Mesa vs. Padres:

Jay CF, Szczur LF, Heyward RF, Candelario 1B, Kawasaki SS, Bruno 3B, Corporan C, Sepulveda 2B, Mills P

Ben Zobrist is still idle due to neck stiffness.

Padres lineup:

Jankowski CF, Cordoba SS, Schimpf 3B, Blash RF, Hedges C, Wallace 1B, Cowgill LF, Sardinals 2B, Cahill P

The Padres are also a split squad today.

Lineups for the game in Las Vegas were not available at the time I wrote this preview. Please check the BCB Twitter feed for those lineups.

Eddie Butler will start for the Cubs in Las Vegas. Others on the Cubs Vegas pitching list: Daniel Corcino, Brian Duensing, Carl Edwards Jr., Dylan Floro and Jhondaniel Medina.

Tim Adleman will go for the Reds.

Alec Mills will start for the Cubs in Mesa. Others on the Cubs Mesa pitching list: Koji Uehara, Caleb Smith, David Rollins, Jose Rosario and Felix Pena.

Trevor Cahill will start for the Padres.

Today’s game at Mesa vs. the Padres is on with Mick Gillispie. No TV for this game.

Today’s game at Las Vegas is on WGN-TV with Len Kasper and Jim Deshaies. It’s also on 670 The Score with Pat Hughes and Ron Coomer. Gameday for Cubs/Padres Gameday for Cubs/Reds. The Cubs are the "home" team today in Las Vegas and will bat last.

Here is the complete Mediacenter for today.

Please visit our SB Nation Reds site Red Reporter and Padres site Gaslamp Ball. If you do go there to interact with Reds or Padres fans, please be respectful, abide by their individual site rules and serve as a good representation of Cub fans in general and BCB in particular.

Please note that during spring training, Gameday doesn't usually go pitch-by-pitch as it does during the regular season -- usually, it will update after each at-bat.

For spring-training games, we'll have a first-pitch thread at five minutes to game time and one overflow thread, 90 minutes after game time (because I know how you all like overflow threads!). For today, that will be 3 p.m. CT and 4:30 p.m. CT.

These threads will not post individually onto the front page; instead, you can find links to them in the box marked "Chicago Cubs Game Threads" at the bottom of the front page. There will also be a StoryStream on the front page with all the game thread links, as well as the recap after the game is over. The pitcher boxes and regular-season stats will return on Opening Night.

Discuss amongst yourselves.
