Cubs vs. Giants at Mesa Preview, Tuesday 3/28, 3:05 CT

The Cubs have won only three home games this spring.

Allan Henry-USA TODAY Sports

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona -- Yes, wins and losses mean little in spring training. Still, it would be nice for the large crowds at Sloan Park to see a couple of victories before the spring campaign ends tomorrow.

In 14 Cactus League games at Sloan Park (not counting the WBC exhibitions, in which they went 1-1), the Cubs are 3-8-3. Not good.

Again, preparation for the season is what's important. Would still like to see a win or two this week.

Here are today's particulars.

Cubs lineup:

Zobrist RF, Heyward CF, Rizzo 1B, Baez 2B, Montero C, La Stella 3B, Jay LF, Arrieta P, Young SS

The Giants lineup was not available at the time I wrote this preview. Please check the BCB Twitter feed for the Giants lineup.

Jake Arrieta will start for the Cubs.

Matt Cain gets the call for the Giants.

Today’s game is on CSN Chicago with Len Kasper and Jim Deshaies. It’s also on cubs.com with Mick Gillispie. The CSN broadcast will be shown live on MLB Network outside the Chicago market.

MLB.com Gameday

Here is the complete MLB.com Mediacenter for today.

Please visit our SB Nation Giants site McCovey Chronicles. If you do go there to interact with Giants fans, please be respectful, abide by their individual site rules and serve as a good representation of Cub fans in general and BCB in particular.

Please note that during spring training, Gameday doesn't usually go pitch-by-pitch as it does during the regular season -- usually, it will update after each at-bat.

For spring-training games, we'll have a first-pitch thread at five minutes to game time and one overflow thread, 90 minutes after game time (because I know how you all like overflow threads!). For today, that will be 3 p.m. CT and 4:30 p.m. CT.

These threads will not post individually onto the front page; instead, you can find links to them in the box marked "Chicago Cubs Game Threads" at the bottom of the front page. There will also be a StoryStream on the front page with all the game thread links, as well as the recap after the game is over. The pitcher boxes and regular-season stats will return on Opening Night.

Discuss amongst yourselves.
