Kris Bryant was a busy guy Tuesday, on an off day for the Cubs. First, he had some interview sessions, in which I took part, for the Topps Company, and then it was off to River Point, where the north, south and main branches of the Chicago River touch, to take batting practice.
This event, sponsored by Red Bull, was KB’s first BP session in Chicago this year, as BP before Monday’s game was cancelled. At this fork in the river, Bryant slammed balls into the Chicago River, which were then scooped out by kayakers planted in the water.
Raised a banner. Took BP into the Chicago River. And tonight we get our rings!

“It was the best batting practice I have taken all year,” Bryant told redbull.com. “Too bad we didn’t have a game today.”
With thousands of people watching from nearby Wolf Point and the Riverwalk during a Tuesday lunch hour, Bryant smacked more than 50 balls, spraying them to the right, up the middle and to the left.
Official Cubs batting practice pitcher Juan Cabreja, who later this year will be the hitting coach at short-season Eugene, did the honors by taking Bryant through his general routine.
Here are some more photos from this event.
