Happy Easter everyone.
Iowa Cubs
The Iowa Cubs delayed the Round Rock Express (Rangers), 6-3. The win snapped Round Rock’s 12-game winning streak at Principal Park in Des Moines.
Starter Eddie Butler got his first Cubs win after allowing two runs on four hits over five innings. He walked two and struck out three.
Pierce Johnson pitched the ninth inning and got his second save. Johnson allowed a one-out single to Ronald Guzman, but then got a game-ending double play. Johnson did not have a strikeout.
Ian Happ gave the I-Cubs a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning with a two-run home run, his sixth already this season. Happ was 2 for 4.
Iowa blew this game open in the fifth inning when they scored four runs without a hit. They had three walks, one hit batsman and Round Rock made one error.

Myrtle Beach Pelicans
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans lost to the Lynchburg Hillcats (Indians), 5-4.
Adbert Alzolay started today’s game and allowed three runs on seven hits over five innings. One of the three runs was unearned because of a P.J. Higgins’ passed ball. Alzolay struck out four and walked no one.
Reliever Tommy Thorpe gave up a two-run home run in the seventh inning and that was the difference as Thorpe got the loss. Thorpe pitched 2.2 innings and gave up four hits in addition to the two runs. He struck out two and walked no one.
The Pelicans took a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning when first baseman Matt Rose connected for a two-run home run, his third of the season already. Rose was 1 for 4.
The Pelicans managed to put the tying run on third after a Jesse Hodges double with only one one out in the bottom of the ninth, but neither Robert Garcia nor Daniel Spingola could get the runner home. Hodges’ double put runners on second and third and then a balk scored one run and sent Hodges to third. He was 2 for 4 today.
