Saturday’s rainout meant the Cubs did not have to make a roster move to reactivate outfielder Jason Heyward from the disabled list. However, it seemed pretty clear that Tommy La Stella was going to be the one sent back to Triple-A Iowa, after Ian Happ was in the starting lineup posted before the Saturday postponement.
Sunday, it was made official. Also, Pierce Johnson was sent back to Iowa after his 29-pitch relief inning on Friday and Dylan Floro was recalled:

To make room on the 25-man roster, INF Tommy La Stella and RHP Pierce Johnson were optioned to @IowaCubs.

The Cubs are playing roster Jenga with the final pitcher in the bullpen. Johnson was the 19th pitcher to appear for the Cubs this year, and he, Floro, Felix Pena, Rob Zastryzny and Justin Grimm are all pitchers who have appeared for the big-league Cubs and the Iowa Cubs this season.
Until Cubs starting pitchers begin going consistently into the seventh inning, I suspect these roster moves will continue.
At least there’s no rain in the forecast for today.
