Day 2 of the MLB First-Year Player Draft starts today at noon Central Time. You can follow along at MLB.com. Be aware, however, that there won’t be any fancy studio show. The rounds after the second are all conducted by conference call and the picks will go by quickly. There will be a short break filled with some analysis between rounds.

The Cubs went with three college pitchers on the first day. You can read up about them in last night’s recap.

The best players available on day two include:

SS Nick Allen. Francis Parker HS (CA)

RHP Blayne Enlow. St. Enlow HS (LA)

RHP Tanner Burns. Decatur HS (AL)

OF Garrett Mitchell. Orange Lutheran HS (CA)

LHP Jacob Heatherly. Cullman HS (AL)

OF Luis Gonzalez. New Mexico

SS Brady McConnell. Merritt Island HS (FL)

RHP Tristan Beck. Stanford.

Most of those high school players are tough signs at this point. If the Cubs saved money on their top three picks, and I haven’t heard anything about Little or Lange having bonus demands out of the ordinary, they could take a risk on one of the high school players who dropped.

Use this thread to discuss the draft. I’ll be around as much as possible.
