Since May 2, the Cubs have won 15 of 20 home games. This is one way of getting back on top of the division, and something any contending team should do, play well at home. Interestingly, only seven N.L. teams have winning records at home, and you might not expect some of these names: Nationals, Cubs, Reds, Pirates, Rockies, Diamondbacks and Dodgers.

Fun fact of the day:

Here are today’s particulars.

Cubs lineup:

Happ CF, Bryant 3B, Rizzo 1B, Zobrist 2B, Heyward RF, Contreras C, Baez SS, Lackey P, Schwarber LF

Marlins lineup:

Gordon 2B, Stanton RF, Yelich CF, Ozuna LF, Realmuto C, Dietrich 3B, Moore 1B, Riddle SS, Urena P

John Lackey vs. Jose Urena

John Lackey had one of his best outings of the year last time out: seven innings, four hits, two runs, almost lights-out after the first inning.

The problem is, he's done this earlier this year too. Throws well, you think he's turned the corner, then he's bad again. Hopefully the corner has actually been turned this time.

With the exception of Ichiro, who will likely at most pinch-hit tonight, no current Marlins active player has more than six career at-bats against Lackey.

So maybe that'll help. Or not. We'll see. It'd be nice if Lackey could get out of the first inning without giving up runs.

Jose Urena started 2017 in the Marlins bullpen and then went into the rotation due to injuries and bad performance by other starters. He's made six starts which range in quality from pretty good to awful. His last outing, June 2 vs. the Diamondbacks, was awful: 4⅓ innings, nine hits, five runs, two home runs.

I'd like one of those, please.

Today's game is on WGN.

Please visit our SB Nation Marlins site Fish Stripes. If you do go there to interact with Marlins fans, please be respectful, abide by their individual site rules and serve as a good representation of Cub fans in general and BCB in particular.

The 2017 Game Thread procedure will be the same as the one used during 2016. Here's how it works.

You'll find the game preview posted separately on the front page, two hours before game time (90 minutes for some early day games following night games).

At the same time, a StoryStream containing the preview will also post on the front page. The First Pitch Thread and all the overflow threads will be published in that stream, as well as the recap. The recap will also live on the front page as a separate post, and at the time I write the recap I will rename the stream "Cubs vs. (Team) (Day of Week) Game Threads" so you can go back and find every thread related to that particular game.

You will also be able to find the preview, First Pitch Thread, all the overflow threads and recap in the box marked "Chicago Cubs Game Threads" at the bottom of the front page (you can also find them in this section link). They will also appear in the game's StoryStream as noted above.

The First Pitch thread will post at five minutes before game time, then an overflow thread at one hour, two hours and 2:45 after the scheduled game time.
