It’s the second annual “John Baker Day!” This is the day when Cubs fans will celebrate the third anniversary of the night Cubs catcher and current Mental Skills Coordinator John Baker took the mound in the top of the 16th inning, pitched a scoreless frame, then drew a leadoff walk and eventually scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly!
Cubs fans have to admit that it’s been pretty much “up” from there!
So what are we doing?
John Baker, The Son Ranto Show, and Ivy Envy Podcast are teaming up with BCB and Cubs Insider to throw a heckuva party to raise money for Cubs Charities and Joe Maddon’s Hazleton Integration Project. And if 2016’s John Baker Day is any indication of how much fun this year’s John Baker Day is going to be, you’re going to want to reserve your tickets early, because there are only 100 reservations available. We’re gonna pack Nisei Lounge for a great cause on the way to another World Series championship!
When: Saturday, August 19, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Where: Nisei Lounge, 3439 N. Sheffield, Chicago
What: The witty and wise John Baker joins hosts of the Ivy Envy and Son Ranto Show, along with writers from Cubs Insider, for conversation, games, music, raffles, auctions and lots of fun to raise money for Cubs Charities and Joe Maddon’s Hazleton Integration Project.
How can you reserve your spot at this uniquely exciting event? Click this magical link to the Son Ranto Show website, and you will be one $20 Paypal payment away from Cubs fan fun! Only 100 tickets are available and we’ve already sold some, so act fast!
Even if you can’t attend, join our Facebook Event as we will be streaming “John Baker Day” live!
And exciting news! Last year, we raised over $3,000 for Cubs Charities and this year we are upping the bar with new John Baker Gear and Memorabilia!
John Baker Day T-Shirts, Hoodies, Buttons, Mousepads, Aprons and even Dog Kerchiefs are now available through the John Baker Day Spreadshirt Store! And all proceeds from the sales will go to the Hazleton Integration Project and Cubs Charities!
And this year there are more colors and sizes to choose from, plus lots more accessories!
Check out this sweet John Baker Day Apron!

Another way we are raising money is by selling Matt Kammerer’s John Baker Day print in three different sizes!

You can order it here!
We are also getting bobbleheads made again! And they’ll look something like this:

There will be only two ways to purchase this bobblehead. One way is to pre-order it to pick up at the event on August 19th. Only 50 are available for $45 each. The other way is to buy it directly from The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame, who we are partnering with to ship the Baker bobbleheads. Details on bobblehead shipping will be forthcoming.
2017 John Baker T-Shirts will also be available at the celebration, but supply is as limited as the tickets! Only 100 shirts and tickets available! Or you can buy a shirt from the John Baker Day Store in many varieties!
Lastly, we are asking Cubs fans to donate Cubs memorabilia items to package as raffle prizes. We already have some exciting and valuable auction items in the works from Joe Maddon’s Hazelton Integration Project and John Baker, but we are also asking you to get involved by donating Cubs memorabilia.
And some friends and fans already have, by donating Cubs art, autographed items and bobbleheads. So if you have any Cubs items you can bear to part with, autographs, Wrigley giveaways, or anything cool, relatively valuable and Cubs related, you can donate them to John Baker Day and help raise even more money for these great causes! Please contact me here if you’d like to get involved!
Many of us will be attending the Cubs vs. Blue Jays game at 1:20 p.m. as well. So reserve your place at John Baker Day 2017, and join us as we root on the Cubs to victory!
I hope to see you all at John Baker Day! To get you in the mood, check out my new video for “The Ballad of John Baker” featuring photos and footage of the 2016 JBD celebration and footage of that fateful night. It’s the song that got this awesome celebration of quirky Cubs history going!
