Here’s another fun fact about today’s game:
Last #WhiteSox win: July 8
— Christopher Kamka (@ckamka) July 24, 2017
(White Sox starting pitcher: José Quintana)
Last #Cubs win: July 23
(Cubs starting pitcher: José Quintana)
The White Sox, who have made a couple of big pre-deadline trades including the one that sent Jose Quintana to the Cubs, have lost nine games in a row and been outscored in that span 54-24.
I’m sure you won’t mind if the Cubs continue the Sox on that skid over the next four days.
Here are today’s particulars.
Cubs lineup:
Heyward RF, Bryant 3B, Rizzo 1B, Contreras C, Schwarber LF, Zobrist 2B, Jay CF, Baez SS, Hendricks P

Considering that the finger injury he had kept Kyle Hendricks out for six weeks, it’s amazing he threw as well as he did for the season’s first two months. Seven of his 11 starts could be rated “good” or better, and he went at least five innings in all but one of those 11 starts.
He last faced the Sox July 26, 2016 on the South Side. He allowed three runs in 5⅔ innings, but of the nine hitters in that lineup, six are no longer with the White Sox. Hopefully, the Sox now being in a full-blown rebuild will be a good return to the rotation for Kyle.
Like Kyle Hendricks, Miguel Gonzalez spent several weeks on the DL recently with shoulder issues, just coming off for his last start July 18 against the Dodgers, where he threw six innings and allowed just one run.
His last start vs. the Cubs was a good one, July 25, 2016 on the South Side. He allowed two runs in 6⅔ innings. Javier Baez homered off him that night.
Today's game is on ABC7 Chicago. It’s also on MLB Network (outside Cubs and White Sox markets) and CSN Chicago (with Sox announcers).
The ABC7 broadcast will be available live on both the ABC7 and Cubs Facebook pages (in-market only).

Please visit our SB Nation White Sox site South Side Sox. If you do go there to interact with White Sox fans, please be respectful, abide by their individual site rules and serve as a good representation of Cub fans in general and BCB in particular.
The 2017 Game Thread procedure will be the same as the one used during 2016. Here's how it works.
You'll find the game preview posted separately on the front page, two hours before game time (90 minutes for some early day games following night games).
At the same time, a StoryStream containing the preview will also post on the front page. The First Pitch Thread and all the overflow threads will be published in that stream, as well as the recap. The recap will also live on the front page as a separate post, and at the time I write the recap I will rename the stream "Cubs vs. (Team) (Day of Week) Game Threads" so you can go back and find every thread related to that particular game.
You will also be able to find the preview, First Pitch Thread, all the overflow threads and recap in the box marked "Chicago Cubs Game Threads" at the bottom of the front page (you can also find them in this section link). They will also appear in the game's StoryStream as noted above.
The First Pitch thread will post at five minutes before game time, then an overflow thread at one hour, two hours and 2:45 after the scheduled game time.
