Myrtle Beach Pelicans
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans were netted by the Carolina Mudcats (Brewers), 12-3 in a game that ended after six innings due to rain.
Thomas Hatch stated and allowed five runs on seven hits over five innings. Hatch did strike out seven and he walked just one.
Shortstop Zack Short went 1 for 3 with a two-run double in the third inning. He later scored that inning.
South Bend Cubs
The South Bend Cubs were flipped over by the Beloit Snappers (Athletics), 7-6.
Starter Tyson Miller went four innings and gave up two runs on just two hits. Miller walked two and struck out four.
Mark Malave gave up a walkoff home run to J.C. Rodriguez with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning. Malave pitched 2.1 innings and surrendered just the one run on three hits. He struck out three and walked one.
South Bend lost despite getting 16 hits today and every player in the lineup had at least one hit.
First baseman Austin Upshaw went 3 for 5 with two RBI. Left fielder Kevonte Mitchell went 2 for 5 with a double and a run scored.
Catcher Jhonny Pereda was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBI. He also scored once. Right fielder Chris Pieters went 2 for 5 and scored once.
DH Alberto Mineo went 2 for 4 with a walk. He scored one run and drove one in. Center fielder Luis Ayala was 2 for 4 with one run scored.
Eugene Emeralds
The Eugene Emeralds were sucked up by the Tri-City Dirt Devils (Padres), 9-1.
Ems starter Bailey Clark took the loss after allowing four runs, three earned, on six hits over five innings. Clark walked three and struck out four.
The Ems only run came on a solo home run in the sixth inning by catcher Miguel Amaya. It was Amaya’s third home run of the season. Amaya was 1 for 4.
AZL Cubs
