Major League Baseball announced their Players of the Week and Anthony Rizzo was named NL Player of the Week for the week ending yesterday.
Orioles third baseman Manny Machado won the award in the American League.
MLB’s press release explained why Rizzo was worthy of this honor.
The Cubs had a good week the past week, going 5-2 on a homestand and improving to nine games over .500, which is tied for the season high point. Rizzo was clearly a major reason for that. Here’s to hoping he continues to play that well the rest of the season.
