Hi there! I’m filling in for Josh on this morning’s Wrap.

Iowa Cubs

Iowa lost to Fresno 8-1. The I-Cubs had just five hits in this loss. Victor Caratini, in his first game back with Iowa since being sent back down, was 1-for-3 with a double. Eliot Soto drove in the only Iowa run. Pierce Johnson threw 1⅔ innings of scoreless relief, striking out three, and Matt Carasiti threw a 1-2-3 inning, also in relief.

Tennessee Smokies

The Smokies split a doubleheader with the Jackson Generals.

Tennessee nearly got no-hit in the first game, losing 4-0. The only hit they got off Joel Payamps was a third-inning single by Carlos Penalver. The seven-inning affair took just one hour, 36 minutes.

The Smokies fared better in the second game, winning 7-3, though it took 10 innings. Trey Martin and David Bote homered, and the four-run 10th-inning rally featured run-scoring singles by Penalver (who went 3-for-5) and Erick Castillo.

Starter Adbert Alzolay threw five innings and allowed two runs.
