Willson Contreras bobblehead, Wrigley scoreboard clock among 2018 Cubs promo items

The list of Cubs giveaways this year includes some unique and fun things.

Bobbleheads are among the most popular giveaways at Wrigley Field each year, and perhaps the most in-demand of all of them this year will be one featuring Willson Contreras, which will be given away Friday, May 11, when the Cubs face the White Sox at Wrigley Field.

Other bobbleheads scheduled for 2018 include Jason Heyward (June 18), Javier Baez (July 23), Kyle Hendricks (August 15) and one listed as “TBD” (September 16). Who knows? Maybe that last one will be Yu Darvish.

Pictured above are some items that are different from previous years. You can get your own Cubs hoodie April 14 or blanket April 27, and trust me, those might be useful items on those days, as April days or nights at the ballpark can be chilly.

The Cubs are also giving away a replica of the Wrigley scoreboard clock (June 6), an umbrella (May 22) and, one day after the 20th anniversary of Kerry Wood’s 20-K game, a replica “KW” flag similar to the one that flies over the upper deck. (The Cubs are on the road on the actual anniversary, May 6.) On July 24 you can get a replica of the 1978-81 “pajama” road jersey, which ought to be quite popular.

The gallery above includes photos of 10 of the more popular giveways; images aren’t yet available for the bobbleheads. I’m sorry to say that the Cubs are still giving away only 10,000 of the more popular items; I wish they had increased this to 20,000 (or more), which would match what most teams do.

The complete promotional item schedule is here. Thanks to the Cubs for the images I’ve shared here with you.
