David Bote, a native of Longmont, Colorado, made his major-league debut against the Rockies in Denver last April.
And now he’ll be starting against them in a postseason game:

Bote hit .275/.381/.490 against lefthanders this year, albeit in a small sample size: 14-for-51 with seven walks and two home runs.
Kris Bryant, who started 10 games in left field in September, gets the call there, replacing Kyle Schwarber. Schwarber, of course, would be available as a pinch-hitter. Schwarber was 0-for-9 as a PH this year, though with four walks giving him a .308 OBP off the bench.
Joe Maddon leads off Ben Zobrist tonight, and Albert Almora Jr. in center will help out defensively. Daniel Murphy holds down second base and, along with Anthony Rizzo, are the only left handed hitting position players tonight.
