BCB’s Sara Sanchez went by Wrigley Field Tuesday morning, took the photos above, and sent me this report:
Despite the Cubs early exit from the playoffs there has been a ton of activity around Wrigley Field this October. Tuesday morning was no exception. Most of the activity is currently clustered at the corner of Addison and Sheffield. Now that the Draft Kings Fantasy Sports Zone has been demolished most of that area is covered in scaffolding as the facade is torn down. You can see that scaffolding stretches the length of park down Addison towards the marquee.
There is also a lot of activity near the firehouse on Waveland. Scaffolding is currently in place between the upper and lower deck of the grand stand and if you look closely you’ll see welders at work in multiple locations.
Also, thanks to Cubs spokesman Julian Green for providing this list of what’s going on this offseason for the 1060 Project:
Continued structural and façade improvements
Upper Deck renovation
Visitor’s clubhouse
Suites
Catalina Club
W Club
Maker’s Mark Club
There’s nothing specific in there about any party decks (though I suppose that could come under the category of “continued structural and facade improvements), so we’ll just have to continue to watch as the work continues.
We’ll have more photos here later in the week.
