Wrigley Field construction update: December 9

Taco Bell is closed, and other notes from Sunday at the ballpark.

BCB’s David Sameshima visited Wrigley Field Sunday and took the 37 photos in the gallery above.

First, a few neighborhood notes. For those of you who were fans of the Taco Bell on Addison, it’s now officially closed (photos 33-36). The Do-Rite Donuts shop in the Addison & Clark project (photo 37) is now open. A 7-Eleven that’s on the Addison side of that project will open soon. Another 7-Eleven is supposed to open on the Clark Street side of that project. And the gas station at the corner of Irving Park and Clark (photo 1) is closed — it’s uncertain whether this is a permanent closure or just temporary for renovations. On some game days, this has been a parking spot for some people driving to Wrigley Field.

Regarding the ballpark renovations, you can see the structures related to the upper-deck patios are getting larger. At some point those will likely be enclosed and we’ll see what, if any, effect they have on the view of the ballpark from the street.

Work continues as well in the right-field and left-field corners.

The home opener on April 8, Cubs vs. Pirates, is 17 weeks from today.
