Cubs roster move: Ben Zobrist activated from DL, David Bote back to Iowa

Ben’s bad back is better.

Ben Zobrist has been out since April 14 (the photo above is from that awful, cold, wet day) with back tightness, something that also delayed his start to spring training. Three days later he went on the disabled list and, as he is now eligible for return, he’s being activated:

David Bote got his first taste of major-league baseball replacing Zobrist. He made his major-league debut last weekend in Denver against the Rockies and got a hit in his first at-bat in front of friends and family at Coors Field. Overall he played in three games and went 1-for-9, but he’ll surely be back in the big leagues at some point this season.

Zobrist has played left and right field as well as first and second base this year. Overall in 13 games, he was a hot hitter before going down with this injury: .326/.408/465 (14-for-43) with a home run. Hopefully he can pick up offensively where he left off.
