The Cubs and Cards get prime time exposure next time they meet.

Last time the Cubs played the Cardinals in St. Louis, the Sunday game was carried as part of ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball package.

The network will do this again when the Cubs return to St. Louis in June. The game Sunday, June 17 at Busch Stadium will be carried on the national network with Matt Vasgersian, Jessica Mendoza and Alex Rodriguez as announcers, and will begin at 7 p.m. CT. (Previous schedules had that game listed as a day game at 1:15 p.m. CT.)

A-Rod’s talk with Kris Bryant about hitting, which ran in its entirety during a long rain delay during the May 6 game on ESPN, was well-done by both A-Rod and KB.

ESPN also announced Thursday that they’d be carrying the following games during June: Red Sox at Astros on June 3 and Yankees at Mets on June 10. The addition of games involving the Red Sox and Yankees should not surprise you, even though they are not playing each other. The teams have gotten off to great starts this year and are actually a big story in baseball.

The visit by the Cubs to St. Louis will be the second of 2018. The teams will play twice in July, July 19-22 at Wrigley Field and July 27-29 in St. Louis — and the latter will be the Cubs’ final visit to Busch Stadium this year, barring a postseason matchup. The Cardinals will play at Wrigley Field September 28-30, the last three games of the regular season.
