Congratulations to CJ!

Congratulations are in order for Cubs reliever Carl Edwards Jr.!

All the best to CJ and his family. This comes at a good time, actually, as since CJ threw 31 pitches Friday night, he likely wasn’t available tonight or possibly even tomorrow. He’ll be back with the club after the All-Star break, most likely.

Rob Zastryzny has a 1.69 ERA and 1.313 WHIP in five appearances with the Cubs this year covering 5x innings. That’s in two different stints with the big-league club, though my recollection is that Rob Z. was called up one other time and didn’t get in a game.

No 40-man roster move was needed for this recall, so the Cubs’ 40-man roster remains at 38.

A full preview for tonight’s Cubs game against the Padres in San Diego will post here at 7 p.m. CT.
