David Bote and Rob Zastryzny were briefly promoted from Triple-A Iowa last week as Carl Edwards Jr. and Albert Almora Jr. were placed on the paternity and family emergency lists, respectively.
The Cubs website transactions list indicates that Bote and Rob Z. were optioned to Iowa on Monday, and Edwards was returned to the active roster from the paternity list. Almora can’t be activated until Wednesday, because players on the paternity, family emergency and bereavement lists must spend at least three days on those lists, and Almora wasn’t placed on the list until Sunday. Albert will no doubt be activated in time for Thursday’s game against the Cardinals at Wrigley Field.
Almora’s wife Krystal is expecting the couple’s second child, and it appears the family emergency was related to that:
@krystalalmora Is doing much better and baby #2 is kicking all over the place! We want to thank you for all your prayers and support!! Much love #5

All the best to the Almoras, and the team should be back at full strength Thursday.
Meanwhile, Bote and Zastryzny will likely be back in Chicago in September, if not before.
